The Little Local Book Hub was started during lock down by Monique in Stanmore, with the aim of providing access to free books for her local community.
At a time when libraries and bookshops were shut due to the pandemic, people were hugely grateful for the opportunity to borrow or exchange books free of charge for themselves, their children or grandchildren to read.
Monique's idea was soon replicated by friends in different areas, and The Little Redbourn Book Hub was the 12th to open. We thought it was a great idea and, living a couple of minutes from our local library, we felt we were in a good central location to serve the community.
People in Redbourn have found the Hub invaluable during lock down, particularly as our village library remains closed. As many have said they are keen for it to continue, we need to find a better storage solution for the books as the winter months approach.
This fundraising will allow us to build or source a damp proof storage system which still allows full access to a range of books while preventing them from becoming damp or damaged.
We hope you will support this project and help us continue to provide the village with access to free books! Thank you very much.
