AIM Northwest is a domestic abuse charity that supports individuals and families impacted by domestic abuse.
The economic and social costs of domestic abuse according to the government Research Report 107 states that the cost of domestic abuse to the economy is a staggering estimated 66 Billion across England and Wales.
Domestic violence impacts victim's ability to work and their ability to function and maintain employment skills are often diminished by the experience of abuse. In supporting Victims to rebuild ready for employment it is important that time and resources are given to support the rebuilding of their confidence, sense of self and self esteem.
For those who offend employment has has a direct effect on reducing reoffending, cutting the number of crimes committed in our communities and keeping those who are at risk safer.
The Rebuild project is a project that last 10 weeks The aim is to provide 2-3 hour weekly skills sessions for the 10 weeks to support the gaining of skills that will support a person to increase their confidence and employability skills through activities such as communication (written and spoken) Teambuilding, reliability and leadership.
Sessions include CV building, employment and training opportunities workshops with external sources, interview skills, and an opportunity to learn practical skills such as joinery, computer coding, beauty therapy skills. Along with employability skills we aim to improve confidence through sport or other therapeutic activities. Activities will be tailored to the interests of the cohort.
These activities will run alongside being open to one of our current services either 'positive change' or 'On your side'. Where we address other support needs such as housing, health, finance and social inclusion.
Rebuild will help to remove the barriers to engagement and give those impacted by domestic abuse a unique opportunity to build skills for life and employment.
