The need for powerful Green voices in parliament has never been greater in what is a now-or-never decade for the climate emergency.
The Conservatives have broken Britain – destroying our public services, ruining our precious nature and wrecking the climate. Labour have none of the ambition or commitment to make a difference. Outside of the Harlow bubble, the Lib Dems are largely ineffective and invisible.
Greens are the only party that can be trusted to fight for people and the planet. A Green vote is an immensely powerful one, because people know what it stands for.
Greens are particularly targeting 4 seats on 4 July but every Green vote everywhere else will count: adding power to the Green argument, building our share of time on broadcast media, and increasing public funding for the Green MPs who are elected.
That's why it's important we stand a candidate here in Harlow and the Villages (Hastingwood, Hatfield Broad Oak, Hatfield Heath, Matching and Sheering Village, Lower Nazeing, Lower Sheering, and Roydon)
- In the Harlow Constituency our candidate is Yasmin Gregory
In order to make a success, we need money - for the deposit, for advertising and for leaflets and posters.
Anything you can give will help! Here's how we'll spend it:
- £800 pays for advertising in Harlow and the Villages
- £500 covers all of Yasmin's election deposit
- £300 will pay for an advert in CM17 magazine
- £199 will pay for a banner advert on Your Harlow website
So, wherever you are in the constituency, please give what you can. So that everyone has the chance to vote Green: To vote for what they believe in.
About Yasmin Gregory
Yasmin has been a Harlow resident for over 35 years, 23 of which have been spent living in Old Harlow.
Yasmin's priorities for the election are the NHS, Housing, Education and the environment.
Harlow Hospital is in desperate need of renovating. Despite promises by a flow of Conservative health ministers, the new hospital has still not materialised - the location has still not been finalised and no land purchased. In the meantime, our hospital and our residents need to be treated by NHS staff that are not seen as being important enough to give a pay rise to.
As a supporter of Lord Nigel Crisps private members bill for Healthy Homes, Yasmin has attended meetings in the House of Lords and was invited to be on the advisory panel for a research project headed up by Prof Ben Clifford of UCL. Her advocacy work on converted office blocks has brought her in contact with the housing journalist Vicky Spratt and Yasmin does not agree with 'affordable housing' in the current crisis and wants social housing built with a rent cap and an end to s20 evictions.
Since 2017, Yasmin has volunteered as a school governor and is the Chair of two primary Local Governing Bodies and a Trustee of two multi-academy trusts sitting on committees as Vice Chair and is Co-Chair of one of the multi-academy trusts. Yasmin also volunteers as an advocate/support for a local CIC that has a number of families with SEND children as clients.
The link between housing, health and education is key to Yasmin's strategy for improving the health of the children of Harlow and the Villages.
Yasmin has a strong sense of what is right and decided to run as a Councillor after witnessing how planners and developers are kept updated more than the residents of Harlow and the lack of social housing that is desperately required. The lobbying group, the Friends of Latton Island, was a pivotal point in Yasmin becoming an activist to stop the building of a 30ft flyover over the picturesque River Stort.
Yasmin has a healthy caseload with Old Harlow residents over matters that have not progressed even after assistance from their elected councillor - it would appear that the residents of Harlow are asking for our help and will be voting for the Green Party to move Harlow into a brighter, greener future.
