0RCCG SOLID ROCK DERBY HAMPER/GIFT DISTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY IN DECEMBER 2023
We are a registered charity dedicated to serving the community. We offer emergency food aid and assistance to individuals and families facing hardship. Additionally, we organise various activities for children, teenagers, and young adults, providing a positive outlet for their energy, fostering social interactions, and reducing the risk of involvement in negative influences.
Twice a year, during Easter and Christmas, we distribute hampers and gifts to families in our community, with over 1000 families benefiting from this initiative last December alone.
We also hold a weekly community gathering, where people come together to fellowship. Our attendance has consistently doubled in the past three years, resulting in our current facility becoming grossly inadequate for our activities.
Our food bank centre opens twice a week to provide emergency food to people who have been referred or just drop in, as well as support and advice to help people maximise their incomes and lift themselves out of poverty.
We recognise that ending hunger is more than food, so we support and encourage our service users in crisis to tackle the root causes of their challenge with our Counselling unit.
Since the pandemic, we’ve had an astronomical increase in the demand for our services. With this record levels of need and more people than ever accessing our food bank and other services for the first time, the stark reality is that too many people are unable to stay warm, feed, and dry right now.
As a result of the above increase in demand for our services, we are struggling to cope with rising need amidst a fall in donations, insufficient supplies from supermarkets, and overstretched teams. We are fighting hard to ensure we do not have to reduce the needed level of support we currently provide. Your support can make a significant difference in ensuring that we can continue providing essential aid to those in our community who need it most.
