How did I get here:
Earlier this year I was asked to create a live piece for the Masters in Dance Performance students at Roehampton University, London UK. There are 15 students in the cast, all international and female identifying and will complete their programme this summer.
The work was created in January 2024 and will be completed on May 18th, to then be performed to a live audience as part of their end of year show on May 21st and 22nd 2024.
The challenges:
In the UK the performing arts sector has taken a real hit, various dance programmes across the UK have closed down, and those still running are coming to blows or in the minority. I am raising money in attempt to costume the final performance for this brilliant group. There is no financial support from within the department at this time and it is too much of a stretch to self fund myself.
I would love for their final performance to feel extremely special and to match the wonderful performances they all give. Various collaborators have come onboard this project already with little or no payment to make it happen which has been incredibly generous, my heart felt thank you's to: Elsa Hackett on sound design and Camilla Greenwell on photography.
What we hope for:
The final flourish would be to support the creation of the costume in this instance we can't access textiles and fabric without a cost so I need some help!
Both I and the dancers would appreciate your support, which would go directly to making their costumes but also contribute towards making a memorable experience for an incredible group of young female performers. I can't stress enough that behind this work is a powerhouse all female identifying team and you would be supporting us, our portfolios of work and experiences which is invaluable.
Thank you
