Hello all!
I am setting up this fundraiser for my elderly mum and her dogs.
After a series of negligence acts by a vet, mum has lost one dog and cancer went undiagnosed in the other which is now terminal. The insurance is refusing to pay for these bills as the vet misdiagnosed both dogs previously and went untreated and/or was marked down as another condition. As we know, insurance companies will always try to find a loophole!
The vet has now informed my mum that she owes over £9,000 and will no longer be taking "Direct Payments" from the pet insurance under any circumstances in the future (even if it is clearly covered by the insurance and she pays x2 the typical excess fee).
Due to this, my mum's dog, Basil (AKA Bloobie) is terminally ill and will not be able to get any further care unless it in paid "upfront and in full". She is also unable to collect the ashes of her dearly departed dog, Sybil (AKA Mini). As you can imagine, the whole family is heartbroken after losing Sybil, especially when it was preventable under proper vet care. She is now looking at the prospect of not being able to keep Basil comfortable while his quality of life is still good, the vets would sooner see him put to sleep before his time (which my mum will also have to pay for upfront and in full).
The funds from the fundraiser will be used for vets bills and to help out with the outstanding debt with the vet clinic.
I will be taking steps to ensure that the vet in question sees the consequences of their actions and that this does not happen to anymore animals and their families. Should the unlikely but hopeful event that these donations exceed the cost of these bills and debts, we will use the extra proceeds toward any legal fees to ensure that this vet clinic does not continue these negligent practices and takes proper case of beloved animals.
If you are able to give anything, no matter how small, we would be so grateful. We know times are hard for many and would appreciate if you could share this post if you are not in a position to donate.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post/donating/sharing!
