Who are we?
Shepton Mallet Gymnastics club is based in the heart of Somerset, we are a small, friendly, not for profit organisation that benefits the children in our local community and surrounding areas. We run classes for children from preschool age through to teenagers and adults. Outside of term time we also run lots of holiday clubs for children aged 5 and upwards.
Why are we crowdfunding?
For many years all our gymnasts have trained on an inflatable Evo Track, helping gymnasts develop their tumbling skills at all levels and ages. Now, we are raising money for a much needed Tumble Track in our club.
The tumble track we are aiming to purchase is perfect for grass roots gymnastics and will support all children with any additional needs in our club as well as higher level gymnasts.
We regularly have gymnasts who are placed in the medals at English Silver Championships, British Gymnastics National Development Plan (NDP) championships as well as gymnasts representing the Southwest Squad.
We are based in the gymnasium at Shepton Mallet Prison, which allows us to keep our equipment set up, ready for our gymnasts each week. All of the gymnastics equipment we have at the club has been bought either by the club itself or has been acquired through fundraising and donations.
To help the continuous development of all gymnasts in our club, our next step is to purchase a half size competition tumble track. The benefits of this track gives all of our gymnasts practice on a competition track without travelling out of our home town.
Until now we have been able to self-fund equipment, but now we are reaching out to see if we can secure funding for this large piece of equipment as it will be a considerable outlay for our little club.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. If you want to run your own fundraiser to support us, maybe a sponsored activity or similar, use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
How we’ll spend the money raised
All money raised will go towards the £10,000 needed for a Tumble Track. If we do go over our aim we promise to spend all money on gymnastics equipment for all of our club to use.
