Rachel H-T is fundraising for BAND OF RESCUERS NORTH YORKSHIRE Charity No. 1183369

£502
Thank you so much for visiting my page.
On the weekend of 1 July 2023 I will attempt - yes, 'attempt' - the National Three Peaks challenge: climbing the highest mountains in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon). Hopefully (maybe! possibly?) within 24 hours. I'm doing so in the hope of raising some money to support the invaluable work of Band of Rescuers - a registered charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of cats and kittens.
I have been a cat fosterer for 11 years and I have fostered for Band of Rescuers since 2016. There are so many people who enable the work of this wonderful charity - the transport and home visit volunteers, the fundraisers, my fellow fosterers, the admin team and every other person who volunteers in some way (be it collecting/storing donations or helping to support the day to day care of our foster cats).
My recent fosters have included Finn (a disabled, incontinent kitten found abandoned in a skip at 8 weeks old) and Lizzie (a stray mum of four kittens who arrived pregnant and terrified after her owner died and she was left alone). My current fosters are Tiggy and Timmy. Tiggy is a 15 year old long-term stray. She was found in a dreadful state - malnourished, matted and covered in ticks and fly eggs. Timmy is a 10 week old kitten who came into our care as his owner has allergies and is no longer able to care for him.
The National Three Peaks will be a very challenging event for me. Despite having previously completed both Ben Nevis (2010) and the Yorkshire Three Peaks (2018), this is my first big event since developing patella tendinopathy in my left knee. (I'll let you know post-event if this was a good idea or not!)
Anything at all that you feel able to donate - however small - would be so much appreciated. Thank you so much. Rachel
About Band of Rescuers:
Welcome to Band of Rescuers North Yorkshire. We have been operating since 2015 as a small voluntary group and over the years gained the much needed support of our wider community. As our following grew and the voluntary management team developed, we proudly gained our charity registration in 2019 and Band of Rescuers North Yorkshire (BORNY) as we know it today was born.
Our mission:
Providing a safe haven for cats and kittens in need. We assess and consider the individual needs of every cat, ensuring first-rate holistic care is given. We pride ourselves in maintaining high-quality veterinary support provisions for all cats in our care.
We aim to alleviate suffering and improve the wellbeing of cats and kittens. We rescue and rehabilitate and once ready and if suitable, we rehome to loving new families.
