We are fundraising to enable us to kick-start our charity, Queer Street, to support young LGBTQIAP+ people in the UK.

We're still collecting donations

On the 26th October 2021 we'd raised £1,550 with 42 supporters in 55 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

When we started Queer Street exactly one year ago, we set out our guiding vision, to create safe and inclusive spaces for young LGBTQIA+ people and those at risk of homelessness, established by young LGBTQIA+ people to help others find community, a sense of belonging, and opportunities to learn new skills.

More than half of LGBTQIA+ youth say that there isn’t an adult at school they can talk to about their sexuality or gender*. It's so important for young people to have safe and well-informed adults to talk to and be supported by, and Queer Street will provide positive queer role models and mentors for the LGBTQIA+ young people who access our services.

We currently have a website where we share important information for queer youth, such as inclusive safe sex and a guide to chest binding. Just one in five LGBTQIA+ pupils in UK schools have learnt about safe sex in relation to queer relationships*. It's vital for young people to have access to information that can keep them safe and help them make informed decisions. On our website we also share real life stories, written by LGBTQIA+ volunteers from different backgrounds and experiences. You can read more at www.queerstreet.org.uk

Here's what some of our young people have said about Queer Street and our website:

"Thank you so much for your help. I didn't have anyone else to ask about this." - B, age 18.

"The chest binding guide was really useful, thank you. I found the information I wanted to know." - G, age 19.

"My favourite bit about the website is the stories, because it is great to see real life stories to be able to relate to. I also love that you can listen to the stories as well as read them." - N, age 14.

"Thank you for including information about asexuality on your website, we usually get left out of the LGBTQIA+ community."- S, age 17.

Our mission is to transform the lives of queer young people so they can live fulfilling and hope-filled lives.  Our plans to achieve this currently spans varying sectors, including housing, education and community. We will achieve this, but firstly we need your help and support.

Queer Street relies entirely on the donations of the public, without which we'd not exist.

And so, we are currently crowdfunding for our next stage of development, to help us cover

1. Operational Costs - quite literally keeping our website, social media and small team going, and allowing us to hire freelance talent to take us to the next level.

2. Strategy Development - pulling our next strategy together is no mean feat, and to do so we need your help.

Our future goal is to have our own Community Centre, where LGBTQIA+ youth can meet, belong and gain confidence. We also plan to open up a Safe House where queer youth who are at risk of homelessness can find safety and security.

Thank you so much for all your support, it is so appreciated.
