Queer By Gum is a local community project based in the North of England. Our aim is to organise creative workshops, community projects and safe spaces where the local LGBTQ+ community can connect, create and organise.
We self-publish a zine and have previously organised club nights, poetry events, workshops and trips away as well as the following regular clubs:
Craft Club - Queer by Gum’s weekly craft club where the local LGBTQ+ community can create and connect through arts and craft. The community will benefit by meeting other people, connecting to the community and being creative. A relaxed weekly Sunday meet up at The Gregson Community and Arts Centre. We want to expand to include working with local artists and supporting small local creative LGBTQ+ enterprises.
Book Club - Queer by Gum’s book club is centred around current and historic queer experiences, LGBTQ+ representation in written media, representation in different genres, and queer authors. A relaxed monthly meet up on the first Sunday of the month at The Gregson Community and Arts Centre.
Only Forms Club - Do you hate dealing with paperwork, sending emails and filling out forms*? (*dealing with transphobic healthcare) Well so do we. At Queer By Gum we’ve decided to set up a monthly meet up for people to sit, fill out the forms they’ve been putting off and chat to others who might be able to help! We’ll be using the opportunity to apply for funding for creative projects with Queer By Gum! Every second Thursday of the month 6-8pm at The Gregson Arts and Community Centre!
