Aim: Quay Connections aims to deliver an authentic picture of the UK fishing industry via an immersive and educational port visit and experience.

I’m a seafood writer and fisheries consultant working with consumers, hospitality, the media and education to promote our incredible fishing industry and our diversity of native seafood via authentic, accurate and inspiring storytelling.
80% of what we catch and land in the UK is exported and roughly the same percentage of what we consume, imported.

To help consumers connect to the realities of seafood production I write articles, give broadcasts, talks and workshops where we use the ‘net to plate’ philosophy to describe the processes of wild capture and aquaculture. This journey is a fascinating experience for anyone looking to improve their knowledge of food production and our courses are designed to impart detailed and authentic knowledge from the coal face of the fishing industry, to inspire, enthuse, inform and educate. This knowledge then serves to empower individuals or businesses and arm them with the tools for better decision making when considering sustainability, traceability and seasonality in the process of purchasing seafood.
