Hi, my name is Liz and I've set up this Go Fund Me page to raise funds to get Puppy No'name off the streets of Turkey and into a safe place. Ultimately, through Forgotten Dogs of Turkey (FDOT), we hope to find her a permanent, loving home.
Sadly, FDOT, like lots of other hardworking animal rescue groups working in Turkey and other parts of the world, are over-whelmed by the number of desperate animals needing help. The situation in Turkey is becoming increasingly grim and urgent, as the government renew their plans to round up and euthanize street dogs on a systemic basis. FDOT has been working relentlessly for over four years to treat, rescue and re-home dogs living in the most dire situations: facing cruelty, starvation and disease. At the same time FDOT is trying to introduce a neuter/spay programme to stop the cycle of puppies being born on the streets or abandoned by owners. But this will take time. In the meantime, FDOT continue to respond when faced with a dog in desperate need and the latest heart-breaking candidate is a young puppy we are calling Puppy No'name.
Puppy No'name came to the attention of one of FDOT's Turkish based volunteers after the pup was dumped on the doorstep of an apartment block and despite being kicked and intimidated, kept coming back to curl up and sleep. Take a look (you need to cut and paste)!

Puppy No'name's trust in humans is indicative of her current lack of any harsh experiences, but without FDOT's help that will change. So our hope is that she can be protected from cruelty, provided with veterinary care, nurtured in a foster home and ultimately travel to a permanent loving home, bringing about a 'happy ever after' ending!
Puppy No'name is just one of the many dogs rescued by FDOT and we care for these dogs in a variety of ways that meet their needs and circumstances. Some can never be re-homed, their feral nature make re-homing unsuitable; so they are loved and cared for in our shelter. Others are in long-term foster care, because of complex health needs requiring one-to-one care; others wait patiently to find their forever home.
So why have I set up a Go Fund Me page for Puppy No'name? I guess it is because we have already had responses from individuals interested in adopting her? But if we are to achieve our goal of having her adopted at the earliest, feasible opportunity, there is lots of work for us to do and this work requires funds! Particularly funds for foster care and transport.
Rest assured, every penny raised for Puppy No'name will go towards her care. FDOT is run completely by volunteers. If you ask 'why this dog?' the only answer we can give, is she is the latest needing our help and we couldn't look away. And, yes, there will be others. But for today, please help FDOT reach its target to support Puppy No'name on her journey.
