We do this by zoning in on each individuals talents and shortcomings and give individual attention to their physical , emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. The environment of Tikun Olam is warm, friendly and caring which attracts all types of Jews from different backgrounds and ages. Non religious, religious, professionals, homeless, drug users and vulnerable people come together all with a common goal - they all want to grow and make the most out of their lives. Remarkably, most of the time, there is a lot of unity and peace between everyone. It is an extremely supportive Yeshiva amongst all who participate and is non judgemental nor competitive.
I have been in kiruv rechokim for decades and have many years experience in counselling. I was heavily influenced by Rabbi Noach Weinberg, Rosh Yeshiva Aish Hatorah, by his tremendous compassion to care for the Jewish people. We try to emulate his care and compassion and reach out to the underprivileged, whether it be physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually.
Right now we have a Beis Medrash and a small kitchen. Be"H with the funds we raise, we will purchase exercise equipment, rent a game room, purchase kitchen appliances so we can provide wholesome meals . We'll be able to hire a fitness instructor and a quality therapist for those who don't have the means. We will provide occasional outings as well.
A monthly contribution will allow us to buy healthy food and provide for those in need. This will attract newcomers to take part in our program as there are many people in our community whose eating habits are neglected.
