Hi we're Gordon, Charlotte and Harry. Thanks for stopping by.
Charlotte uses an electric wheelchair full time and Harry is 6, has Cerebral Palsy and is the superstar of the family. we find it difficult to go on holiday due to disability but it's our motto that nothing is impossible!
We're undertaking a project to convert a minibus into a wheelchair campervan
Our possibly impossible dream is to convert our Fiat Ducato Orion minibus into a wheelchair campervan suitable for our family's needs. To achieve this it will need to include all the standard campervan stuff as well as a wetroom with shower chair, ceiling track hoist and off grid wheelchair charging.
Freedom from disability
This campervan will give us the freedom to go on holiday and travel in ways that others take for granted. It will be our home on wheels with all the facilities we can't find in a tent, caravan or a hotel meaning we often stay with family or don't travel at all.
This is an early concept of the layout but will likely change multiple times to fit the requirements of the wheelchair.
What you can do to help
To do this we need some help, firstly to get a fast & furious version 1 on the road for this summer and then for the full build over winter with our conversion company Shred & Butta (see "full metal junkies" on the telly) who have already been amazing in helping us.
We're looking for donations of expertise, items for the conversion, offers of discount as well as money. The full build is estimated to cost £40k and we are looking to raise up to £20k.
A few example costs:
- Minibus: £17k
- Storage: £1000 per year (our accessible bungalow isn't big enough to park outside)
- Hoist: £5,000
- Wheelchair charging array: £3000
- Plus build costs, materials and a lot more besides this!
