We are currently partnering with Discover Buckinghamshire Museum to plan and present an annual 'Pride in Aylesbury' event. As with any event of this kind, there are standing costs that occur to ensure the event is a success and to enable us to produce the event as a 'free-to-attend' event for the local LGBTQ+ Community, their families, friends and allies and the general public.
At this point, we have had ongoing discussions with the team, at Discover Buckinghamshire Museum, Buckinghamshire New University and others to understand how we can best deliver new and existing services to the local LGBTQ+ community where, currently, these services are few and far between if not non-existent, in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area.
We are conducting ongoing research via our website, social media and email campaigns to establish what the community would expect from our projects, specifically concerning the proposed ongoing production of a 'Pride in Aylesbury' annual event.
In addition, we have also consulted with members of the local LGBTQ+ community of all age groups and have invited certain members to serve as members of the 'Pride in Aylesbury' Event Management Committee, together with invitations for them to join the new Board of Trustees of the newly establish Aylesbury Vale LGBTQ+ Social Group CIO.
Following this, we anticipate running regular surveys and open days to establish the feelings of the local LGBTQ+ community on how best to deliver 'Pride in Aylesbury' as a going concern and subsequently develop it further into an annual event.
We have previously and successfully set up various Steering Groups, in respect of the above-stated project and are currently compiling the data from all concerned.
