PRICKLES IN A PICKLE

Prickles in a Pickle is a Hedgehog Rescue Charity based in Stoke Fleming in South Devon. We became a Charity in 2020 after Judy and Alan had been taking in injured and sick wild animals for many years beforehand. Since becoming a charity we have grown in size and now take in over 1300 hedgehogs a year, run entirely by volunteers which are made up of over 50 wonderful people. We take in sick and injured Hedgehogs found by the public, we assess and treat accordingly, once fit and healthy they will be released back to the wild to a Hedgehog friendly neighbourhood. We take in DofE students from the local schools and colleges and we offer work placements for students of animal care at the local FE colleges. We visit local community groups and schools delivering talks and educating people on what they can do to help the endangered hedgehog.  We have recently bought some land and are awaiting planning permission to build a purpose built hedgehog hospital with greater facilities so we can take more hedgehogs , more students and also we will have a classroom facility for groups to come and see first hand what we do. 

We hope to inspire younger generations to care for our wildlife. 

The new hospital will provide much needed space to be able to provide the very best conditions for the recovering hedgehogs. However we have to raise every penny to keep the hospital running and to raise the money needed for the new build. Every penny given to Prickles in a Pickle goes directly to the hedgehogs welfare and road to recovery.
