The Mollys are heading to Fringe for the first time! After a sold-out run in Oxford in 2023, a new, re-worked version of our comedy murder mystery Pretty Little Lawyers will be brought up to Greenside Venues and we need your help!
Who are we?
We are THE MOLLYS, a production company founded in Oxford! We are two students called, you guessed it, Molly <3 We founded this company to produce comedies in a fun, wholesome and inclusive environment! Drama can be an elitist space, favouring more privileged backgrounds, and we seek in all our work to create a welcoming space to explore art for all! We are made up of students and so have, predictably, limited funds which is why we're fundraising!
What is the show?
Last May we put this, our first production, on in Oxford at the HBAC Centre. The show was our reason for founding a production company, encapsulating our desires to produce comedies in a wholesome environment. Pretty Little Lawyers, originally written by Molly Dineley, Molly Evans and Evie Holloway, was an experiment in writing characters that are caricatured and still, scarily, real. All five of our students are, in some way, horrible . Worse than them all is Richard Branston-Blackwell, an eccentric tutor with a specialty in law and hypocrisy.
The new version, written by Molly Dineley and Molly Evans, focuses in on the murder mystery elements. What results is a pressure cooker of emotions and privilege. Drama comes galore and jokes fly.
