PRAXIS 9 follows the huge success of the 1st festival of modern Greek theatre in the UK that took place in Oxford in June 2023 and in London in November 2023.
Back in September 2013, a new theatre group, Praxis ('Πράξις', meaning 'Action') was established with the mission to introduce contemporary Greek plays performed in their original language to an English-speaking audience, an element previously missing from Oxford's vibrant international cultural scene and Oxford's long standing tradition of Classical Greek theatre, which our work has come to complement.
Praxis is a diverse, open group whose members share a love for theatre. The group is constantly evolving but has established its unique identity and has succeeded in achieving its founders' vision to create a space for contemporary Greek theatre in Oxford.
Praxis has had the honour and pleasure to have been led by established, professional directors since its inception. We have actively sought to engage professionals in this venture as we considered this to be an integral part in staging high quality productions. We made our début in 2014 with Manos Tsotras, while we were still known as the theatre group of the Oxford University Greek Society, and since 2015, we have been guided by Anastasia Revi.
This fundraising will help us cover the cost of hiring the theatre and marketing materials so that we can present the 2nd festival of modern Greek theatre. We are extremely grateful for your constant help and support.
