Fells Cocktails was born at the foot of Scafell Pike in the beautiful valley of Eskdale in the English Lake District. Every year, we make the annual pilgrimage back to our birthplace, bringing unique concoctions to an independent micro-festival set high up in the valley. Since our inception, we have taken Fells Cocktails to many wonderful events and this has become a key element of our company.
In 2017, Fells took its roaming cocktail bar to a more permanent residence underneath the streets of Leeds city centre: Poison Cocktail Lounge was born. Continuing a passion for quality ingredients, rustic themes, foraged products, homemade infusions, and a style unique to mixology & bartending, we created a unique environment and a high-quality cocktail lounge. Poison gained a great reputation and became increasingly popular as word spread about our sensational seasonal menus and cosy underground decor.
On the 20th March 2020, our world was turned upside down and we were ordered to close due to COVID-19. This meant we lost 100% of our income overnight from Poison Cocktail Lounge, while Fells Cocktails roaming bar saw event after event cancelled. We had two choices; We could either sit on our hands and hope we survive the storm, or we could completely change our strategy.
Head mixologist; Ellis Morton, already had an inimitable reputation as a master of cocktails with his seemingly limitless knowledge of drinks and ingredients, combinations and wacky processes, picked up from his dedicated work and explorative travels. The success of Poison immortalised this reputation giving him the confidence to take his ambitions further. The next step was clear: create and perfect a range of delectable, perfectly balanced drinks for people to enjoy at home or in their local watering hole.
After exploring all options, and working hard over the last two months product testing and collaborating we have decided to create a new sister company, Morton & Smith. This new company will produce and distribute a range of craft ales, spirits, and cocktails.
We have been working tirelessly over the last few months on our own unique small-batch gin called Underwood, collaborating with esteemed breweries to create our craft ale range called Mo-Brew, and developing our own canned cocktails range. With your help, this crowdfunding project will allow us to bring our exciting new product range to the market.
We have adapted our business model to make this work for us indefinitely so we can work through the current situation and beyond, delivering the highest quality drinks and expanding our services. This is a crucial time in our journey and we would love for you to be a part of our story.
