In 2010 we opened the doors to our lovely studios in Gorleston with borrowed money, many favours, amazing volunteers and a shared love of the arts.
Founder Karen Thompson has always wanted the arts to be accessible to all regardless of wealth or ability and this ethos has never changed. Karen gives her time as a volunteer 7 days a week to run the studios and this ensures that all classes can remain affordable and that we can also offer many scholarships and funded places throughout the year. Many of our students have gone onto further training and performing as a career and without the support of DPA scholarships this wouldn't have been possible.
"I am so grateful for every skill I learnt and every friend I made. I could never of financially supported myself to take these classes without the help of the school and the generosity of Karen and the standard of it's training speaks for itself. Eternally grateful and forever a student" Liam Graves
SO HERE IS THE THING.. Karen hates asking for help, she hates asking for anything in fact but we are now in a place with no reserves in the bank due to the pandemic - just like many people we know and limited ways to fundraise due to COVID-19 but still in desperate need of help to fund our new floor so that our lovely dancers can continue to thrive, continue to dance and continue to smile. Funding and grants for the arts are limited and we understand how hard it has been but if you can help in anyway with a donation, sharing of the page, your time or advice that would be amazing.
If you have ever been lucky enough to have had financial support, taught for us, been supported or sponsored by us or been part of our DPA family in any way you will know what a truly special place it is.
We have an amazing faculty of teachers, lovely hardworking students aged 18 months - 18 years, beautiful families and a great support network so please, please help us on our mission to buy and install a new sprung dance floor.
Thank you for reading.
