Roy stared flying with BOAC in the late 60’s. He will be remembered on VC10’s / 707 Fleet. A gentle and caring colleague who built a reputation as a great team member. Later, on 747 Fleet, Roy as Purser and then as a CSD, was respected for his leadership. His kind, caring and compassionate nature shone through then and still continues to this day with his tireless efforts in the Dominican Republic. All round wonderful friend and so loved by us across our crew sites.
Roy has dedicated his life since retirement to the support of the poor of the Dominican Republic. He has set up food kitchens and repair shops for so many. His wife died a few years back of Sepsis in the very hospital he is laid low in now. A Flea Pit local region hospital where he has languished now for 10 days on a broken bed, and still awaiting any semblance of care. He shattered his hip walking his dog when attacked by a Pit Bull Terrier. His work has seen him plow what money he had into his community, and their care and welfare. His turn now.. as he is now helpless and scared, with no positive outcome on his horizon, except maybe us,"Crew Family" in making a donation for a private operation to either replace or rebuild his hip and support his recovery. This is to me where “Crew Family”come to the fore and wrap our arms around our own ..please help Roy ❤️🙏
