Aim: We’re raising £29,198 to deliver fun, hands-on indoor workshops in Drumchapel that help families reduce bills, cut waste, and take climate.

Who are we, and what is our project about?

We are The Play Centre Glasgow, a non-profit community organisation based in Drumchapel. We specialise in interactive, family-based learning that promotes wellbeing, creativity, and resilience.

Our project, Play Smart, Live Green, is a new 12-month programme of indoor workshops for local families. Each month, 20 families will take part in fun, practical activities like DIY insulation, budget-friendly cooking, and upcycling — all designed to help them save money and reduce their environmental impact.

Delivered by skilled facilitators in a safe, welcoming space, the project supports both Climate Action and Financial Wellbeing — directly in line with the Aviva Community Fund priorities.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We’re crowdfunding so that 20 low-income families in Drumchapel can attend the full programme free of charge. This funding will cover workshop costs, tools, materials, venue hire, and healthy meals at each session.

With the rising cost of living and growing concerns about climate change, families are looking for realistic, everyday ways to make a difference. Our workshops give them the skills and confidence to act — together.

This project will reduce bills, cut emissions, and build stronger community ties.

How we’ll spend the money raised

  • £6,600 – Two trained facilitators (12 workshops)

  • £1,200 – Volunteer support (expenses + recognition)

  • £4,200 – Venue hire for 12 months

  • £1,600 – Materials and tools (eco kits, games, crafts)

  • £3,600 – Food and refreshments for 20 families x 12 sessions
