Who are we?

Platform cricket is a charity dedicated to helping all young people across London.  Our exciting initiative is particularly aimed at supporting young people from deprived and ethnic minority backgrounds who have little access to sporting opportunities. We believe sport, and in particular cricket with its broad cultural appeal and opportunities for socialisation, can act as an effective early intervention which diverts children away from poor mental and physical health, crime and their drivers in later life.

Our mission is to have a positive impact on as many children as we can, through:

  • An increased number of children in London getting active- improvements in young peoples physical & mental health.
  • Increasing the amount of children from disadvantaged and ethnic minority backgrounds participating in cricket.
  • Supporting personal and social development- leading to less crime and improvements in community & social cohesion

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding because we need to continue to provide a service and we want to give our supporters a meaningful opportunity to give back to charity no matter how big or small.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The aim of the community hubs are to provide young people with a safe space, where they can engage in sport, meet new people within their community, learn new social skills and increase health and nutritional understand. We have a developed our hub sessions so that we see as great an impact as possible focusing on social problems many young people in the city face today. We always aim for a 50/50 gender split and children from any background or sporting ability are welcomed.

The funding will go towards the running costs of these hubs, including: coaching costs, venue hire in the winter months, equipment and playing kit (as many young people don't have this).
