Through partnerships with local organisations, schools and youth groups, our aim is to create awareness of the challenges faced by the marine environment, inspire action to protect our oceans, celebrate our collective efforts through a vibrant environmental festival in Dorset at the end of each summer and give young people the tools to create meaningful change.
In order to do this, we need to set up at Community Interest Company, Plastic Shores, as an entity through which we can fundraise and run events. The Plastic Shores will be responsible for running the Plastic Shores Project which is an environmental and social impact project in equal measures, providing educational roadshows to engage young people through schools and youth groups, a programme for a group of young people to learn further about the challenges faced by the marine environment and the potential solutions with an expedition element, and finally culminating in a festival towards the end of the summer to raise awareness and engage with the wider community with lots of free resources and activities.
In addition to the costs of setting up the CIC, we are also looking to fund the creation of a website to publicise the project and the various events which will also act as a hub for the groups who sign up.
Once we're registered and functional, we'll be hitting the ground running into phase two which will be setting up the calendar of roadshow events across the south and south west, partnering with local organisations to reach as many young people as possible through school and youth groups. We believe that collaboration is key and that only by working together can we create meaningful change.
Finally, phase three will be the organisation of the Sea Change festival in August when we'll also run the Plastic Shores Programme for our chosen ambassadors, a group of up to ten young people chosen for their enthusiasm and dedication to becoming a steward of the sea.
