On the 6th July 2023 we'd raised £490 with 7 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Phonofiddle! is a teeny weeny lil baby theatre company made up of students based in Cambridge, UK. We have a passion for making silly, musical, and collaborative shows which anyone can enjoy, and this year we are taking two such shows to Edinburgh Fringe from the 4th to the 26th – Peer Gynt: A Jazz Revival and Garry Bonds’ Balanced Breakfasts.
Peer Gynt: A Jazz Revival is a new twist on the Ibsen classic, accompanied by jazzified versions of Grieg’s iconic suite. This energetic, creative, fun, and poignant adaptation distils the "unstageable" epic story about identity, love and regret – which spans an entire lifetime and half the known world – into an hour of challenging, exciting, and jazzy entertainment.
Garry Bonds’ Balanced Breakfasts is a new piece of student writing, telling the story of Ned Burger as he gets a chance to prove himself to his high school baseball rival once and for all. This tale of passion, revenge, and hotdogs explores the limits of ambition and what it means to be successful, with plenty of goofs and giggles along the way.
Our primary goal -- £5000 -- will cover the cost of our venue hire! We're headed to Edinburgh for a full month, and this ain't cheap. Without covering this cost, we won't be able to perform. Any money beyond this will subsidise the costs of accommodation, travel, and food for our company (approx. £1400 per person), as well as cover production costs including (but not just!) these:
Insurance: £235
Fringe Registration: £787.20
Set, costume, props, lighting and sundries: £500
We also have some 'aspirational costs', such as a BSL interpreter! We're an accessibility-focused company, but (understandably) certified interpreters don't come cheap. As such, any remaining money leftover after production costs and subsidising living costs will be put towards making our productions accessible to a wider audience!
We are a group of young theatre-makers, and whilst we have big plans we don't have big pockets! Your financial support will help set us off on our mission to create accessible theatre for everyone to enjoy. Even the smallest donation will receive our eternal gratitude for helping us do something we love, and hope will be loved by our audience just as much.
