Phong's double half marathon '25

Not content with running one half marathon, I'm going to be running two in two weeks (Great Manchester Run and Jubilee Bridge) whilst raising money for an incredible charity, WAST. 

Women Asylum Seekers Together (WAST) is a charity and grassroots network based in Manchester. They offer local support but also campaign nationally to improve the rights of women seeking asylum in the UK.

Why this matters

Vital support such as WAST's destitution fund (for women with no access to asylum support or public funds) and wellbeing activities help women to survive the asylum system by taking away some of their daily worries and helping them to experience new things and explore different places.

Research by Women For Refugee Women into women seeking asylum in destitution in 2020 found that:

• 95% of the women were hungry
• 25% of the women had been raped or sexually assaulted whilst sleeping outside
• 95% felt depressed; a third tried to kill themselves.

How your donation will make a difference

Help support the women in WAST's network so they can provide vital funding for wellbeing activities, culturally appropriate food, hygiene products to name a few.

• £5 could pay for one woman's bus fare
• £20 could fund a hot meal for 10 women attending a WAST drop-in
• £100 could support 1 destitute woman for 10 weeks
