I grew with a small family and not many people in my family went to university and graduated.
I was always keen in helping people and most people would point out how i was “too kind”.
So i took it upon my self to use my “too kindness” to help those in need.
I began my clinical training at a university about 6 years ago in 2019. I was very enthusiastic, ready to learn and as soon as practical practice began i realised how out dated our NHS systems where.
I couldn’t do anything about it, nobody really asked questions to why we are using outdated systems that are vague and take 5 mins to start ,its the norm. So it’s best to fall in line.
This bothered me for years and years during my training. Never really had the knowledge or any experience in the business world to understand where i could suggest my ideas but i was always good with technology and solving problems.
Solving problems
One day during my training i was in the community with my mentor, a GP had sent us to collect blood samples from a patient. She struggled to understand what vials she needed and in what order she needed to use them in. This is very important she gets this right otherwise the blood would be contaminated by other vials.
She pulled out this A4 torn piece of paper and began reading it trying to understand what she needed to do.
At that moment it struck me, what if there was an application that could do this and make it easier for medical staff to figure this out.
I began my reasearch and found out that most medical staff do struggle with this issue and i was definitely going to be one of them.
So with this idea i began writing to different application developers to help me draft an app, everyone was charging an arm and a leg. As a student i couldn’t afford this. So i stopped pushing my self and gave up.
So as soon as i qualified and began working, i bought my self a computer and began using AI teaching my self how to code , i soon realised for the application to be safe and reliable i will need a professional developer to assist me. Again i gave up on this idea.
Today
This idea kept bothering me as i keep seeing multiple staff having the same issues. So i went on my computer and drafted what i needed the application to do and what it should look like - i used AI in some parts for coding and sent it online to a local developer. He gave me a quote of about £7,000. I knew i couldn’t afford it so again i gave up.
While watching the Apprentice last night, i suddenly had an idea to try crowd funding. I still don’t know how this works but with my reading and findings it certainly sounds promising in achieving this dream.
oh for the most part , this phlebotomy application will be free for all users!
Thank you for your time.
