Who are we?
Petworth Community Garden helps people to grow organic fruit and vegetables for free AND in response to the Cost-Of-Living Crisis we started a Harvest Food Box delivery scheme to local families in need. Currently the demand is higher than ever and and we want to continue our Harvest Boxes over the coming Autumn & Winter months.
With your help we can make a difference, to ensure no one goes hungry.
Impact
Our work is vital in ensuring that low-income families in the Petworth area have healthy food and fresh bread donated from SØDT Bakery, not just tinned and packet item from the Food Bank. Fresh vegetables and fruit is so important for families and we know that for parents struggling to make ends meet - they simply can't afford the high cost to buy fresh food for their children. We encourage people to also take part in our weekly Learn & Grow sessions and how to cook cheap, nutritious meals, and access support from us.
One parent told us "My kids love the carrots, runner beans and raspberries that came in our box - their eyes light up and I feel so much better knowing they are getting good food in their tummies."
Why are we crowdfunding?
Simply put, we have run our of funds to continue our Harvest Food Box scheme, but the need is still greater than ever.
High living costs, rising mortgages and rents and low wages continue to impact on families food budgets. We need to continue our Harvest Food Boxes in the winter months and to ensure the low income, isolated, and vulnerable members of our community stay healthy and nourished.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Your donation will help cover:
- Harvest Food Box co-ordinator
- Fuel costs to deliver the Harvest Food Box
- Fresh fruit and vegetables to add to those that we grow in the Garden in the lean winter months.
