Aim: To eliminate pet theft. Period. Pet theft has risen astronomically since the pandemic, with thieves now cutting out microchips.
I’ve been an entrepreneur in IT and technology since 2019. The idea for Petasure came to us last year after seeing a similar attempt on Dragons Den that wasn’t fully realised. The team currently consists of my wife and I, and a group of dedicated technology professionals who are supporting us in achieving our goals. Our vision is to beat pet theft permanently. Since the Coronavirus pandemic, pet theft has grown by more than 140% in some areas of the UK. Pet thieves are cutting pets open and removing their microchips to stop identification post theft. Our new biometric ID solution utilises cats and dogs unique nose prints and other biometrics to create an ID for your pet which cannot be altered or removed. Our theft prevention network will consist of all major vets and animal shelters, and combined with our biometrics ID solution and database, will make it all but impossible for the pets to be sold on, and hugely increase the risk of prosecution. We will also collaborate with the police and border force with a view to check pets on exit from the UK and prevent international trafficking. There are over 22 million cats and dogs in the United Kingdom alone, worldwide over half a billion. This extra layer of protection will cost just £30 per pet, per year.
The funds raised will pay for the development required to improve ID accuracy from 90% to 99.999%, as well as put together our advertising and marketing campaign (including branding, website, social media campaigns and of course National TV ads with Sky and On Demand). Other expenses will be the database and IT security requirements to protect our customers data, plus launching a customer and partner call centre to handle enquiries and assist pet owners from day one.
