Who are we?
We are a small community centre and independent charity based in Thatto Heath, St Helens.
We are fully inclusive and aim to provide a holistic approach to people who are in crisis situations, have no other support and have multiple, complex social issues.
We believe with the right information, mentoring, guidance, support and trust that lives can be turned around. We have specialist advisers who are qualified and have lived experience of social issues, are FCA authorised for debt adjusting and debt counselling, are knowledgeable of the barriers people face on a daily basis. On a practical level we work with partners to ensure our clients are able to access goods and services that helps to relieve digital and financial poverty. We are host a ‘social supermarket’ where people (if they can afford to, this is subsidised if not) can make a small donation for personal care and household items, we can issue data SIM cards so that people are always digitally connected, and work with people on a one to one basis, for as long
We provide free services and activities that are not available elsewhere. Our staff respond to the needs of the community and act in their best interests. We aim to be a one stop shop for social issues and offer a bespoke service that does not have time constraints. Our staff are understanding and empathetic and in most cases have some lived experience of the challenges faced by local people. We are a micro organisation that does great things with very little.
We host a range of facilities that cater for all ages, examples of these include:
Digital skills classes for people who struggle with technology, we help set up devices, ensure people have enough data to be online through our partnership with Good Things Foundation and are able to provide, free of charge, sim cards to people who are struggling with digital exclusion through the National Databank project. We help people learn the skills they need to get online and stay safe online.
