We will be taking Flamingo Chicks on the road across London with magical touring workshops delivered from a mobile pop-up stage that offers a unique fusion of dance, performance and advocacy for disabled children who struggle to access traditional performance venues. These immersive and inclusive experiences will be co-created and led by disabled young people, with tactile staging, moving props, textured fabrics, emotive smells, and colourful costumes and props inspiring confidence, imagination and curiosity.
Our aim is to ignite a culture shift where accessible and immersive performances are a valued and intrinsic part of the artistic landscape, sparking a ripple effect of sustainable impact.
Disabled children face multiple disadvantages in accessing education, careers, fulfilling personal experiences and the development of affirming life skills, and are all too often excluded from enjoying the freedom and expression of dance, movement and performance. This project directly addresses this inequality of access through both intervention and advocacy.
We are raising funds to secure integral elements of this project, such as; sensory kit and equipment, covering travel costs, training and working with more inclusive performance facilitators, to widen and improve our project's reach.
