Our Vision:
Our vision is simple yet profound: to challenge stereotypes and unlock the potential of every individual, regardless of their abilities. We believe that everyone who lives with the challenges associated with having a learning and or physical disability deserves the chance to contribute meaningfully to society, and we're committed to providing the tools and support needed to make this vision a reality.
Our Campaign:
Join us in challenging perceptions with our campaign to change the narrative. We refuse to accept statements like "they cannot" and instead champion the belief that "they can." By providing opportunities for individuals to showcase their skills and talents, we're challenging societal norms and paving the way for a more inclusive future.
What We Do:
At Reach, we offer a range of activities and projects designed to empower individuals and foster independence. From in-house initiatives to community-based projects, our focus is on social enterprise and meaningful engagement. By selling items created by our attendees, we not only generate revenue but also promote confidence and self-worth through social interaction.
Funding Purpose:
External support is crucial in helping us expand our reach and impact. From purchasing equipment to funding transportation for attendees, every contribution helps us create more opportunities for those we serve. Together, we can make a difference and create a more inclusive society for all.
An Example Of Perception From The People Who Know:
Perception influences how culture changes society. Examples of perception around learning disabilities:
- Your perception is that I cannot work
- Your perception is that I cannot have relationships
- Your perception is that I cannot care for myself
- Your perception is that I cannot cook
- Your perception is that I cannot go out on my own
- Your perception is that I cannot read or write
- Your perception is that I cannot make decisions
- Your perception is that I cannot understand money
- Your perception is that I cannot keep safe
- Your perception is that I cannot remember
- Your perception is that I cannot learn
- Your perception is that I cannot do as you do
- Your perception is that I cannot go to mainstream school
For this to change, society needs to see the value and worth of these individuals and to do this, perception needs to develop from “they cannot do” to “they can do”.
Reach provides the opportunities and tools to prove that they can do.
