Pelican Parcels

Pelican Parcels works in Brighton & Hove to recycle pre-loved essential items for babies and children. We accept donations from families who no longer need them and give them to children who do. We share toys, clothes, books, furniture and equipment with families in need. 

Pelican turned 5 in 2023. In 5 years we have gone from supporting 500 children a year to 5,744 in 2023.

The cost of living crisis is already making a big impact on the need for our work. Giving people the essential items they need takes some worries and pressure away. It doesn’t solve the problem but if we can give a family the clothes, bedding or uniform they need it just eases that ‘heat or eat’ decision that they need to make.

Here’s what your donation could buy:

• £6 new bottle teats 
• £6 large tub of Sudocrem for sore bottoms
• £10 new pants and socks for a child (set of 7)
• £15 new mum pack with maternity essentials such as breast pads
• £20 new microwave steriliser
• £20 nappies for 1 month for 1 family
• £22 Average cost to Pelican Parcels to support 1 child
• £25 new cot mattress
• £40 new single bed mattress
• £50 formula for 1 month
• £85 new single bed and mattress
• £200 charity office utility bills for 1 month so we can keep our volunteers warm!
• £500 a month of part-time volunteer coordinator
• £1000 nappies and formula provision for supported families for 1 month
• £2000 office rent for 1 month to ensure operations
