Toni Jarvis and Marielle Newton will be challenging themselves to take on Mam Tor in the Peak District on 26 June 2025.
They've been going to the gym since November 2024. Meeting up every week has kept them both motivated to make it a habit.
Marielle has hit some amazing targets recently in her health journey, the latest is couch to 5km. As they were walking the treadmill a few weeks ago she said she wanted to do something to mark the progress, and could they go and walk Mam Tor.
Toni had some health issues to deal with herself after being diagnosed with diabetes a couple of years ago. Despite drastically reducing her blood sugar levels she was missing the exercise element of a healthy lifestyle. Joining the gym with Marielle was a big move forward.
Toni was keen to support Marielle, as they used to camp in Hope when the kids were small. However, she agreed as long as they could fundraise for Tiger too.
On checking the Mam Tor circular walk they realised it was only 2 hours, so to make it a bit more challenging they decided to add walking to and from Mam Tor from the campsite would extend it to around 6 hours of walking!
The training has begun.
In addition to the Friday gym session they are building stamina and increasing inclines on Sunday walks.
Randall has been joining us, follow us over the next few weeks to see what we get up to.
