Lily's Social Kitchen opened 7 years ago with the aim to provide work opportunities to individuals that are Neurodiverse. We soon recognised that the homeless community in Canterbury needed some support so we started a Pay it Forward scheme - Customers are able to donate towards this fund so that we can help provide hot food and drinks to the homeless.
Fast forward 7 years and we are in our shiny new cafe on Guildhall Street and we are needed more than ever! We are working alongside Kings School to help prepare and take food to Catching Lives for the Winter shelter. The Kings School Students are donating their time to prepare food that can be reheated during the Winter Shelter for those who need to use it
One of the wonderful students that comes to volunteer has managed raise some money for us to be able to purchase a blast chiller. A blast chiller is a machine that helps to cool food quickly so it can then be frozen for when it is needed to be used. Now we just need to raise some money towards the cost of the food so we can be fully prepared to help the winter night shelter that is run by Catching Lives.
We would love if our customers and followers would be able to 'pay it forward' this Christmas and help us to be able to support the Winter Shelter by donating towards our Crowdfund! Kings School students will then be able to carry on volunteering with us to help the homeless during the colder months
