At PAWS Preschool, we pride ourselves on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for all children. Our mission is to support the development of all our children, including those who are neurodiverse and may need additional resources to thrive. Today, we are reaching out to you for help in creating a sensory room—a safe, quiet space where children can regulate their emotions and find calm.
What is a Sensory Room?
A sensory room is a specially designed space that provides a range of sensory experiences to help children calm, focus, and engage their senses in a controlled and supportive environment. For many children, especially those who are neurodiverse, these rooms are essential in helping them navigate overwhelming emotions and sensory overloads.
Why PAWS Preschool Needs a Sensory Room
1. Emotional Regulation: Many of our students experience sensory processing challenges that can make it difficult to manage emotions. A sensory room offers tools and activities to help children self-regulate and return to a state of calm.
2. Safe and Inclusive Space: Our goal is to create an environment where every child feels safe and supported. The sensory room will be a haven for those who need a break from the stimulating classroom environment.
3. Enhanced Learning: By providing a place where children can de-stress and refocus, we are enabling them to better engage in learning and social activities throughout the day.
Our Vision for the Sensory Room
The sensory room at PAWS Preschool will include:
- Soft lighting and calming colours
- Comfortable seating and quiet corners
- Tactile wall panels and sensory toys
- Weighted blankets
- Noise-canceling headphones
- Bubble tubes and visual stimulation
How You Can Help
We are seeking to raise £5,000 to make this vision a reality. Your generous donation will go directly towards purchasing the necessary equipment and materials to create a fully equipped sensory room.
- £25 could provide sensory toys and tools.
- £50 could contribute towards a comfortable seating area.
- £100 could help us purchase specialized sensory equipment.
- £500 could sponsor an entire section of the room, such as the tactile wall or quiet corner.
