Who are we?
We provide outdoor well-being activities to adults, young people, and community groups from the Tyne and Wear area. We offer a range of supported, engaging, healthy outdoor activities to help people improve their emotional and physical well-being. We offer canoeing, cycling, bushcraft cooking sessions, rock climbing and mountain & hill walks.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are crowdfunding to raise much need funds to enable us to provide a therapuetic provision that is in great demand. We know that a large proportion of people are suffering with poor mental health, addictions, cost of living crisis, lack of opportunity and isolation. We know that levels of depression and suicide in the North East of England are among the highest in England. We have many years engaging with groups and people in our community and know our services are valued and important to people's lives. We are raising money to help provide regular, accessible free activities to those most in need. This includes offering services to people on low income, mental health conditions, the elderly and people with disabilities. Typically people cannot afford nor have the opportunity to access the provision we offer. Consequently their mental health and in turn physical health is affected.
Like most organisations in the community we are finding our running costs and capacity to offer free services are becoming ever stretched. Success in this Crowdfunding campaign will great help ensure people are supported and receiving free, social, active and regular services.
How we’ll spend the money raised
The funds will help pay for professionally delivered outdoor activities, minibus transportation costs, replacement and maintenance of equipment and resources. The funds will be used to deliver free sessions to people in need and ensure that lack of transport or specialist equipment does not prevent them from accessing such important healthy activities.
Community impact
The wider impact of our services help support people remaining healthy both physically and emotionally. This has the benefit of reducing people's reliance on an ever stretched NHS and medical service. In addition, we aim to tackle the alarming rates of suicide within our community by offering direction, meaning and hope to people. Our impact does give people focus and drive to make positive life decisions and plan their life filled with optimism and desire. Our services enable people to learn new skills, meet new people and develop their self-esteem. Some of our past participants have become volunteers, Management Committee Members and peer mentors. Providing these opportunities helps people in the community share and support others from similar circumstances and thus extend and increase the positive social impact.
We are seeking donations to our Crowdfunding campaign with a view to reaching maybe even exceeding our £10000 target. In return we make a pledge to acknowledge your contribution via our Crowdfunding page, Social Media and wider publications.
For larger donations we will provide low cost group activities to help demonstrate and inspire participants to support our cause.
We welcome support and sponsorship from local businesses.
To this end, please help in any way you can. You will be helping to support those most fragile and help inspire people there is hope and opportunity for them. Using nature as a delivery tool to help people get fitter, address social isolation, learn new skills and find purpose, all in the Great Outdoors!
