THE COURTHOUSE PROJECT (OTLEY) LIMITED
Otley Courthouse is a vibrant arts and resource centre founded and run by and for the people of Otley. Our aim is to be a welcoming community hub where people can experience live events, learn new skills, connect with culture, join as a volunteer or Friend of the Courthouse, meet other people and improve their social connections. We host a wide variety of events throughout the year, from film screenings, live music, theatre, comedy and creative workshops. We are also host to a wide variety of local creatives who run weekly classes and workshops from the centre. We have a café that is open 6 days a week (apart from over Christmas). We have a Maker Space that functions on a membership basis and hosts the Otley Men’s Shed. We have 8 tenanted studios/rooms. We have 1 meeting / workshops room as well as our main hall (the Courtroom) in which classes and workshops run daily.

Otley Courthouse opened in 2004 as a community arts and resource centre founded and run by and for the people of Otley and surrounding area. It is housed in a Victorian former magistrates court and police station. You can still spot it's heritage throughout the building and we still have the original cell corridor and 1 cell in place, just as it was during the 19th century.
The aim is to be a welcoming place where people can experience live events, join as a volunteer or Friend of the Courthouse, meet other people and have a good time.
We have a small staff team & over 100 volunteers that put their hearts and souls into the centre. So much so, they were awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2019.
We host a wide variety of events throughout the year, from film screenings, through live music, theatre & comedy amongst others. We’ve hosted artists such as Kiki Dee, Tony Wright, Toya & Show of Hands as well as Comedy greats such as Jack Dee, Mark Thomas, Lucy Porter and Paul Sinha amongst lots and lots of others.
We have a café that is open 6 days a week (apart from over Christmas).
We have a Maker Space that functions on a membership basis and hosts the Otley Men’s Shed. We have 10 tenanted studios/rooms, 1 meeting / workshops room as well as our main hall (the Courtroom) in which classes and workshops run daily.
We organise and host an annual Science Festival and Greenfair as well as supporting the local community by hosting events from other organisations such as the Wildlife Friendly Arts Festival and Otley Folk Festival. We also work with local schools, hosting Prince Henry’s Grammar School’s annual band night for example.
