The extra money means we will be able to reach even more people and pay rent for an even longer term.
Oscari was formed in 2016 as a way of connecting people in the local community together with a craft group.
This soon escalated and became a thriving hub providing a community cafe, a kids club, craft groups and fundraising evenings.
During the pandemic we cooked and distributed over 180,000 freshly cooked meals to people in the local area, driving a total of 3000 miles .
Oscari temporarily closed in September 2021 and re opened in January 2022.
We have opened up a community pantry and resurrected the craft group.
The community pantry has shown to be a lifeline with 170 families currently registered with us and an average of 50 families a week shopping with us.
We provide a weeks worth of basic food staples as well as a small selection of fresh and frozen food for £7.50.
We are based in a very underprivileged area that has a lot of people living on or under the breadline and poverty.
The hub has been a lifesaver for so many people in the community and for some, quite literally a lifesaver us being here as we have had people who have literally been suicidal and no where to turn.
Social services, social prescribers, doctors surgeries and schools regularly use our services such as the food bank and also the craft group.
The craft group provides a safe warm welcoming atmosphere for anyone and everyone to come along to and has proven to raise peoples self esteem levels and help them to gain new skills as well as new friends.
We are an independent non profit organisation so receive no government funding.
We rely heavily on donations and grants and fundraising.
The cost of living crisis has bought more and more people to our doors and we are finding that we are having to increase the amount of stock we have to meet the demand, this means that our costs have risen dramatically.
Alongside this, gas and electricity prices have increased dramatically and we have to pay our share of the bills in the building we are based at.
The money raised will be spent on food and gas and electricity costs to help us to help more people.
