The ensemble was created by Director of Music, Teacher and Organist Dylan McCaig and Soprano and Singing Tutor Aimée Harris. Both musicians have years of baroque music experience and are excited to begin this joint venture!
Join the Calder Consort in their debut performance as a baroque ensemble, playing one of G.F. Handel's hidden gems, HWV 202-210 (the Nine German Arias). Handel composed very little music using text from his native German tongue. The most notable example was his Nine German Arias using text from the poetry (Early Pleasure in God) by Barthold Heinrich Brockes, and setting them for soprano, violin and basso continuo (theorbo, cello and organ). The concert's title "Ornament of the Earth" comes from the first line of G.F. Handel's aria 'Flammende Rose, Zierde der Erden' HWV 210, translating as 'Flaming rose, ornament of the earth'. Dylan (Chamber Organ) and Aimée (Soprano) will be working with the talented Kristiina Watt (theorbo) and emerging young artists Matthew Phillips (cello) and Amy Price (violin) for this concert!
