Who are we?
Orchard Park High is a small secondary school in the London Borough of Croydon taking kids from year 7 through to year 11 (KS3 and KS4 only)
The Friends of Orchard Park High is our new Parent Teacher Association group dedicated to supporting the school in raising money to help support all the children at the school. More info can be found here: https://www.orchardparkhigh.co.uk/friends-of-orchard-park
Why support us?
The cost of living crisis has affected us all - with pressures on all of us and prices rising rapidly. In previous years, we've not always been able to gather the funds for a prom or leaving memorabilia, and we know financial pressures will continue to impact the school and all our families for some time.
This year 11 group showed amazing resilience when COVID hit. They were in year 6 at the time and COVID cast a shadow over the end of their primary career and start of secondary school. These were formative years and they have all worked incredibly hard to bounce back and we know they are on course to demonstrate this in their GCSE performances.
We want to give this group the chance to have a proper farewell before going on their separate ways to sixth forms across the borough and beyond. This is something they've earned with diligence and enthusiasm over their time at the school.
So we are asking those who feel able, to donate something to this cause.
What will we do with the funds?
The year 11s will be putting their own money in, and looking to fundraise across the year, but with costs rising everywhere we know the amount they need to support the prom and allow every child to take home a memento will be steep.
If we are lucky enough to go beyond our target, the children want to use the money to thank the amazing year 11 teachers who regularly go above and beyond all year to get the children GCSE ready.
If there's money after that, it will go towards the next year 11 cohort!
