A new not for profit organisation wanting to provide FREE mental health support/first aid to the local community.

My History

My name is Cherie, I have spent the last 15 years working in health care. During my time in the NHS I have become passionate about the lack of resources and support available for people that are suffering with mental health issues. In 2020 I was diagnosed with PTSD following trauma while working on a frontline ambulance. I was lucky enough to be able to access the help I needed through my work.

About Frank

My partner, Frank, has a history of working in high pressure jobs. This includes long hours with unrealistic expectations. Along with a traumatic past Frank was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. The support given to him, just like many in the UK, medication. He had to seek private support to deal with the causes of his mental health diagnosis. Frank more recently has had a diagnosis of brain cancer for the second time. He has just completed a gruelling 13 months of treatment for the, including surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Our Project

We moved to Cornwall in August 2023 wanting a different way of life. We purchased a piece of land with the most incredible feel to it. Over the last 6 months we have decided we want to share our pride and joy with the people in  our community that require support in a more timely manner.

We have set up a Community Interest Company to offer support for those unable to access it elsewhere. People with mental health issues, bereavement, Cancers, long term illness and those that are struggling with day to day life. We will be a hub for community mental health first aid.

Our plan is to offer a course of 6 days off grid self care to patients referred via the GP. The campfire will be going, bush craft skills on offer. We will also be giving support and learning based on everyday life that effects the way we feel mentally. Sleep therapy, nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, self care and wellbeing. Alternative therapies such as reiki and aromatherapy offered for those that want to try something new.

This will be offered free of charge to all those that have a referral from their GP.

Our goal currently is to raise enough money to get the project off the ground. By creating hard standing for car parking, stretch tent for shelter over our campfire. Cooking and dinning equipment. Building a composting toilet so we have all the facilities needed to start offering support.

Any support you can show us will be greatly appreciated while we look at further funding potential.
