Opening a family play cafe business

Aim: The main aim of this project is the build a community space that will allow growth of children and a village for parents.

Hi! I’m shaheena, a 28-year-old mum to a wonderful (and very energetic!) 18-month-old. Like many parents, I’ve struggled to find fun, safe, and welcoming spaces where I can relax with a coffee while my little one plays and learns. I have struggled to feel welcome in restaurants and cafes when alone with a toddler!
That’s why I’ve decided to follow my dream and open a Play Café in Blackburn, but I need your help to make it happen. 💛

 What is a Play Café?

A play café is a unique family-friendly space designed for children to play and explore while their grown-ups enjoy good coffee, snacks, and a sense of community. It’s not just about soft play my dream café will offer:

• A beautifully designed play area for little ones (under 5s).
• Delicious drinks and homemade treats for parents & carers
• Sensory and learning activities. 
• Baby classes, parent meetups & birthday parties.
• Food that is weaning friendly and toddler friendly.
  
  

Why This Matters:

Blackburn has so many amazing families, but we need more spaces where kids can thrive and parents can breathe. As a mum, I know how important it is to have places that are safe, supportive, and joyful.

This café won’t just be a business it’ll be a community, a village. A place where parents don’t feel judged, where friendships are made, and where little ones laugh, learn, and grow.

 How You Can Help:

I’m starting this from scratch with no outside funding just passion, a big vision, and a toddler on my hip. Your support will go towards:

• Play equipment & soft furnishings
• A cozy, child-friendly café setup
• Safety measures & accessibility
• First month’s rent and licenses
