ITS TIME FOR STYLEMONGERS OF BRISTOL TO JOIN THE INDEPENDENT HIGH STREET!
Stylemongers Of Bristol is a multi award-winning interior design studio, with a reputation for creating colourful spaces and hosting popular DIY design workshops.
BUT… it's invisible. No one can see it, and it needs its own space.
THE VISION is to create a lively hub for all things interior design, where creativity experiences, client meetings, studio work and design events all happen under one roof, with inspiring and regularly changing displays in the window for all to enjoy.
STUDIO
The studio is where all the design work for homeowners and small businesses takes place. Everything from client calls, meetings and emails to researching ideas, drafting plans, drawing designs, costing custom concepts, choosing colours and finishes, and upcycling the occasional piece of furniture will happen here.
Hosting workshops in the same environment will provide a richer and more authentic experience for guests too!
CREATIVITY & WELLBEING
With a variety of interior design workshop experiences on offer, for individuals in small groups and for corporate teams (instead of paint-balling!), all participants will learn practical design skills to use again and enjoy the mental health and wellbeing benefits of screen-free, hands-on crafting in good company.
The ‘Curate Your Home’ workshop furnishes participants with ways to add the finishing touches that quickly make a space come to life. Think like a stylist to combine eclectic objects and make stunning surface displays, and learn how to successfully and easily hang picture walls.
The ‘Interior Design Masterclass’ workshop shares an easy-to-follow design process that fosters colour confidence and clarity around committing to ideas, culminating in making a moodboard to take away and use at home.
Sessions are available for individuals, small groups and corporate teams for creative away-days. If you choose a workshop from the campaign rewards you can decide to book your experience right away and it will be held in the current venue, Design West in central Bristol, or you can choose to wait until the hub is open and ready to receive you.
COMMUNITY
In the new space it’ll be a real delight to be able to come together face to face, not only for workshops and meetings, but also to meet new customers in the shop and at design-interest events. The space can be available for hire after hours, and we’ll also able to put on events to discuss the hot topics in interior design today, namely sustainability, which the interiors industry needs to address with some urgency. We get to make it a pleasure by doing it together.
CO-WORKING
There is a plan to create a space on site for 3-4 desk-base creatives to join the community, such as illustrators, architects, branding / graphics / type / games designers. This is not available as a reward at this time, but please stay tuned and in touch if you are interested in this possibility!
RETAIL
Customers will be able to buy cushions and statement furniture items and browse up-close a curated library of high quality curtain and upholstery fabrics, and wallpapers from brands including House Of Hackney, Harlequin, William Morris & Co, Divine Savages, Cole & Son, Timorous Beasties and more.
INTERIOR DESIGN KITS
Also on offer will be the Stylemongers Of Bristol Interior Design Kits (and greetings cards), which make lovely gifts for people who would enjoy doing their own designs. With no subscription (unlike most craft kits) and access to an exclusive e-book download and printable templates inside these kits are reusable for every room in the home. There are four variations each tailored to a special occasion too!
- Newlyweds Nest - for wedding presents
- Brand New Nest - for housewarmings
- New Baby Nest - for new or expectant parents
- Feather Your Nest - for any occasion
Securing this funding will enable Stylemongers Of Bristol to take on the lease at a retail unit on Gloucester Road so we can:
- Create a welcoming, immersive environment to host clients, workshop participants and shoppers
- Have greater visibility and become more sustainable as a business
- Facilitate more people in the local community to improve their wellbeing through creativity
- Improve quality of workshop sessions (by being able to store and provide a wider range of materials)
- Share knowledge on sustainable design practice
- Donate more to homelessness charity Crisis and Medical Aid Palestine in partnership with Work for Good
- Plant more trees in our Ecologi forest
ABOUT
I’m Zoë, the artisan interior designer, and founder of Stylemongers Of Bristol.
Before switching to interiors I worked as a set and costume designer-maker for stage, screen and community arts parades in the street. My work is known for being daringly colourful, and I’ve appeared as interior designer on two series of rural retreat makeover show ‘My Unique B&B’ on BBC 1 and 2.
SUSTAINABILITY & SOCIAL IMPACT
I care passionately about people and planet, and believe there is an intrinsic link between creativity, wellbeing and sustainability in interior design. I’m on a mission to prove that sustainability doesn’t have to mean compromising on style, and that creativity is our most powerful tool.
I’m a director of Bristol place-making graffiti-mural company Graft Community CIC, and a member of the Futureleap and Bristol 24/7 Better Business networks.
As a signatory with 'Interior Design Declares Climate & Biodiversity Emergency' I’ve pledged to prioritise sustainability and regeneration in my design work. So far the studio has funded the planting of 787+ trees through the Ecologi platform, and I plan to start the B-Corp certification process as soon as the hub is open.
A donation to homelessness charity Crisis and Medical Aid Palestine is baked in to my products and services (and made via the Work For Good platform), because while we feather our nests we must support others in finding and keeping theirs.
THE PLAN
Once the lease is signed I’ll get to work transforming the space with colour, style, reclaimed materials, vintage furniture and love.
It will accommodate up to ten people at a time for workshops, and there will be an Inspiration Station full of interiors magazines plus paint, paper and fabric swatches to play with - like a larder cupboard full of design ingredients!
Private clients will be able to book design consultations to be held in the space.
There will be a retail zone where shoppers can buy Interior Design Kits for a range of gifting occasions, and browse the fabric and paper library. The window will always be home to a display of interiors inspiration for everyone on Gloucester Road to enjoy.
WHY CROWDFUND?
Crowdfunding will allow the hub to:
- open in a debt-free, low-pressure way
- undergo a beautiful and wheelchair accessible re-fit
- sustain its first year
- increase its chances of being a fixture on the high street for the long haul
REWARDS
Interior design is for everyone. It’s an essential, not a nice-to-have. That’s why there are a range of rewards at different price points to suit all budgets.
If you have any questions about the details of any reward, please don’t hesitate to ask!
For the higher ticket rewards in particular, you are very welcome to book a zoom call with me to discuss the finer points and I will be happy to provide a detailed brochure to aid you and any other stakeholders in reaching a decision.
