Several of our close friends working in AANES don't have access to Kurmanji lessons - let's fund an online tutor for them.

Intro

Several of our close friends have been working in a wide variety of roles in AANES over the last few years, but due to the location of their work and difficulty of travel (due to the worsening security situation there) they don't have access to the language resources that other volunteers have had in the past.

For some –especially for whom it is their first foreign language– learning Kurmanji is a huge challenge on top of the demands of work and daily life. The structures that support international volunteers in AANES are not well set-up to provide language tuition, and if you're not a natural at languages it can be real source of stress.

We aim to help them out by funding language lessons online. All funds raised will be used to purchase italki credits (https://www.italki.com/) which our friends can use to buy either individual or group lessons with a native Kurmanji-speaking tutor from Kurdistan. So far we have found 2 tutors who can provide lessons on a regular basis, both for around £10 per 45 minute lesson.

The more we can raise the more lessons we can fund. By doing so not only will we give our friends a means to improve their confidence and ability to contribute, but also provide a source of income for their tutors.

Thank you so much for your support! Every lesson will make a difference.
