With the opening of outdoor performance spaces post covid, we bring this unique fundraising event for FareShare and local performing artists

by Joanna Rosenfeld in Hove, England, United Kingdom

We're still collecting donations

On the 27th July 2021 we'd raised £200 with 6 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

The One Fell Swoop Project UNLOCKED came into existence last year as a response to hardship experienced by performing artists and people in Brighton as a result of the Covid 19 crisis. After performing for six weeks of weekly 24 hour Shakespeare  productions, this micro festival raised a whopping £1148 for Fareshare, a local and national charity that fights food poverty.

As last year, the actors will only be told which play they are performing the evening before the performances and have just 24 hours to con their roles and rehearse in what promises to be a thrilling, live and immersive exploration of the Bard’s immortal works.

What’s more, you, the audience, will have no idea which play you’re coming to watch until you take your seats.

We will choose from

Hamlet

The Tempest

Romeo and Juliet

Richard II

The Merry Wives of Windsor

The Merchant of Venice

Love's Labours Lost

Pericles

A Winters Tale

and a mystery play.

What's it to be or not to be?

We are committed to :

- casting against gender, age or type

- challenging sexual stereotypes

- working with local charities and businesses

- creating opportunities for young people between 14 - 25 years of age to experience front of house, box office roles, directing, producing and performing in productions with established artists of all ages.

  • donating 100% of profits from the shows to Fareshare.

The plays will be performed in the magical setting of the Sensory Garden in St Anne’s Well Gardens, Hove, on 5 weekends and one midweek event (due to the popular St Anne's Wells Gardens Tea Party) from the 24th July, 2021.

On Saturdays doors opening at 5.30pm with performance starting at 6pm, and Sundays doors opening at 2.30pm with performance starting at 3pm.

So keep following dates free for picnics, fun, laughter and outrageous performances from some of Brightons Favourite Shakespearean Actors:

July 24th/25th,

July 31st/1st August,

August 5th/6th,

August 14th/15th,

August 21st/22nd

and August 28th/29th.

In line with government guidance we will continue to ensure social distancing for the audience, and will provide all necessary information on the day.
