Omushana, Sunshine for Children is a UK registered charity (1150629) set up by friends in Uganda and the UK who share a goal to change lives of children around the Mountain Gorilla Forest Reserves in South-west Uganda.
Omushana built the first Community Library at Bwindi in 2013. This library is a wonderful resource within reach of over 2000 children in Buhoma, Bwindi and the surrounding villages. It is open and staffed 6 days a week and regularly used by more than 10 schools. There are over 1000 books and 9 laptops currently in use for fun and learning.
Now we have the chance to build a second Community Library - this time in Ruhija village, an area which currently has few resources. Most children here have no access to books and may never have seen, let alone used, a computer.
The total budget to build, furnish, power, stock and staff the new library is £15,000. We have already raised over £12,000 thanks to a generous grant from the British Foreign School Society and contributions from many supporters, UK schools and the local community in Uganda. Over 1000 books and 4 laptops are already on the way to Uganda - they will be ready to be housed in the library by August so we need a library to put them in!
We only need £2000 to complete funding for this wonderful project.
Please pledge today to give the children of Ruhija a brighter future.
All donors will receive news about the project as it progresses.
Omushana uses every penny of your donation to further our projects in Uganda - we have no overheads. Trustees and UK volunteers fund themselves.
100% of your donation WILL go to make a huge difference to the children living in and around Ruhija.
