My mission
I am standing to be the first Liberal Democrat member of Parliament for Didcot, Wantage, Wallingford, Grove and the surrounding villages.
I am doing this because I want a better deal for our towns and villages, acting on widespread concern about lack of investment in infrastructure and health care, sewage dumping, and the impact of the cost of living crisis. All of these problems are signs of the neglect of our area by the Conservative government.
As Liberal Democrat candidate for Didcot and Wantage, I have a great opportunity to see off my Conservative opponent and win.
The Lib Dems are in 2nd place here, with majority control of both district councils in the seat; and YouGov’s polling, underpinned by demographics-based modelling, which has accurately predicted the outcomes of previous General Elections, anticipates that I would win a narrow victory.
But it’s not in the bag.
Winning a constituency that has always been Conservative is a huge undertaking.
That’s why I’m asking for your help. 
My goal
I need to raise an additional £10,000 by the end of June, so that our General Election campaign chest is full. I am looking for support from my friends, colleagues, and wider community to achieve that goal.
To give you an idea of what my team and I can do with the money we raise:
- £3,000 pays for a constituency-wide leaflet delivery.
- £1,000 funds an intensive constituency-wide social media marketing campaign.
- £100 pays for a batch of leaflets to support our doorstep canvassing in a large village.
Many people who know me are excited by the idea of having someone in Parliament who will ask the questions and fight for the causes many shy away from.
Others welcome having more people in politics with my experience of leadership, public service, and working with trade unions.
I also know people who are inspired by the fact that I practice what I preach on climate change, whilst at the same time recognising that we will only make progress on environmental matters by pursuing those policies that help people as well as planet.
I want to have the privilege of being elected to Parliament because I really want to make a difference, represent my community well, and provide fresh thinking and scrutiny to whatever government may come next. This will be all the more important in the eventuality of a new government with a massive majority.
I can only do it with the help of generous people, like you.
