Thank you!
Hello everyone!
I wanted to personally thank you for your generous donation to my London to Brighton bike ride last weekend. It all went to plan and was a great ride and we raised £1,114 , which far exceeds our original target of £500!
As I wrote, this is the start up funding for a new Bereaved by Suicide Support group that we are launching in September at The Pelham, as part of the counselling service. I’ve personally benefitted from the support from friends, family, colleagues and counsellors that I’m blessed to live and work alongside, so I’m so grateful that this support will really make an impact to people impacted by suicide in our community. We have a brilliant team that will be running it, with personal experience of being bereaved by suicide as well as previous work with national charities likes Samaritans and SOBS (Survivors of bereavement by Suicide).
If you, or someone you know would like to know more about the groups, please do get in touch. Initially it will be for adults, but we are already planning to extend this to children and young people who may have been bereaved by suicide too.
Thank you so much, it means a lot to me.

I am riding from London to Brighton (as part of the British Heart Foundation cycle) on Sunday 16th June to raise money for The Pelham. Specifically, the funds raised will help us launch a new “Bereaved by Suicide Support Group”. This monthly group will launch in September and will be open to anyone bereaved by suicide, facilitated by some of our amazing counsellors from The Pelham Counselling Service who are experienced to do so.
Almost 3 years ago now, one of my best mates took his own life. This was devastating and remains something that will stay with me forever. Our two families were already close, but in the time since that day, it has bought us so much closer during some of the most difficult days of our lives so far. It has been comforting and vital to walk together during this time, as we traverse the complex blend of emotions that the days and years bring. I’ve seen and felt the benefit of how important this support is and want to see that others too that have lost people to suicide in this tragic way locally, have access to something similar.
At The Pelham, perhaps uniquely, we have such an open culture to talk about suicide and a community that is united in a daily mission to champion life and beat suicide through RunningSpace and provide therapy through the Counselling service. Even more so, the team I’m blessed to be a part of make this possible on a day-to-day basis. I’m riding for my family friends who have been bereaved by suicide, my family and I and all that live in the wake of being bereaved by suicide.
As a team at The Pelham, we have decided that now is the time to launch this group. For the whole charity one of our core missions is to be a suicide-alert community and this is the next piece of the support network we see that is so needed.
The hope is that this group will provide a meeting point so that this journey need not be walked alone, so that anyone bereaved by suicide can connect with others have experienced similar heartache and pain, whilst bringing hope for people so that life can be lived in all its fullness in the time ahead.
