The Health Academy has been delivering nutrition training to groups within the charities Mind and Depression Alliance since February of this year. The sessions have generated a huge amount of interest and the feedback is that everybody is interested and wants to learn more. Scientific studies can demonstrate the benefits of a healthy diet on mental health and service users are always keen to take on new ideas.
With one in four people likely to suffer from a mental illness during their lifetime, providing this type of information can be invaluable and give people the tools to maintain better mental health for life. Trainer Owen Raybould brings experience and practical skill to these sessions and presents the material in a very clear way, making the information accessible for anyone who wants to learn more about the connections between food and mental health. He is being supported in this project by Mick Carrol, former operation manager for Depression Alliance, and Dr Tommy Wood, a qualified doctor, researcher and online health blogger.
Whilst there may not be a 'one solution fits all' for diet, these sessions will give learners the tools to use nature as their starting point and bring the power of nutrition and vitality back into their lives. Everybody stands to benefit from improved nutrition.
If you are interested in learning something new about food, The Health Academy has something to teach you. But we want to bring this information to some of those who need it most.
Your donation would help us to deliver this invaluable training that has already helped hundreds of people in the UK. Our target is to help thousands more. This project, if successful will take us to that point, and hopefully beyond.
Donations over £30 will receive a return gift PDF publication entitled 'Diet and Lifestyle: Improve your physical performance, mood and overall health in 5 stages'.
